On Tuesday 27th March 2018, Maple Class visited Mike and Laura Evans' photography studio to learn all about taking photographs. The children dressed in character as evacuees and had to think about how their character for their stories may have felt when being evacuated. We will be using their learning about character as part of our English writing topic at the beginning of next term.
The children worked in teams to model or take the photographs. We used very expensive and special equipment to take and review photographs in black and white. Once they had taken their photographs, they then reviewed the image on the computer screen. They learnt how to check for composition, facial expressions and overall effect, as well as how to communicate the changes the models needed to make in order to improve the shots.
The final photographs are really beautiful. You will be invited into school to view the pictures and will have an opportunity to buy copies of the prints as well. However, below, there is a sneaky peek before you see the real thing!
A massive thank you to Mike and Laura, who gave up their valuable time to welcome us and for maintaining and overwhelming sense of calm given the expensive equipment we were using!
