On Monday 26th March 2018, Maple Class enjoyed a visit to Teignmouth Museum to learn about the impact of World War II on the local area. The lovely volunteers at the museum ran different workshops to help us learn all about World War II. The children had great fun exploring the museum and handling the artefacts and experienced how it would have felt during and air raid in a Morrison Shelter. They also learnt about rationing, measuring out the different quantities of ingredients and sampling some carrot cookies. Next, they turned their hand to ragging, making small squares of their own and learning how to 'make do and mend'. They also had a great time keeping up morale at a dance and we all enjoyed learning 'The Lambeth Walk'. A lovely morning was had by all. A big thank you to all our volunteers at the museum, including a familiar face, Miss Charnley!
