Authority Governor Vacancy
The Governing Body of Stokeinteignhead Primary School is made up of parents, staff and members of the community. We work together to set the vision for the school and then oversee this by monitoring the schools policies, personnel, performance and finances.
Being a governor is a voluntary role. Our aim is to deliver our vision that the children of Stokeinteignhead primary get the best possible education, that they are happy and safe and enjoy their time at school. We support the headteacher and the staff of the school but also at times hold them to account and challenge them to ensure that we deliver our objectives.
Our role differs from that of the headteacher. The governing body works at the strategic level, setting objectives and policy, whereas the headteacher has an operational role and is responsible for delivering the policies and meeting our objectives. As governors we make our decisions following discussions which we record in the minutes of our meetings, the headteacher manages the school using his professional judgement.
We currently have a vacancy for an Authority governor. We are particularly looking for people who can bring some expertise to the Governing Body. That expertise can be in a number of fields: finance, IT, teaching, management, accountancy, legal services, or simply a passion for education and a commitment to working to improve standards at Stokeinteignhead.
Please note if you are a parent of a child at the school you can still become a Co-opted governor.
If you are interested in becoming a governor we would really like to hear from you, please email the clerk: email@example.com to express an interest.
There is more information about the governing body on our school website (www.stokeinteignheadschool.org) and I would be more than happy to speak with you further and answer any questions you might have. I can be contacted through the Clerk to the Governors Nikki Johnson (details above)
